*Against the Ice* (2022) is a survival drama based on the true story of Danish explorer Ejnar Mikkelsen’s ill-fated expedition to Greenland in 1909. The film follows Mikkelsen (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and his companion, Iver Iversen (Joe Cole), as they embark on a perilous journey to map the uncharted northern part of Greenland and confirm that Greenland is, indeed, one island, not two. When their ship is destroyed by the ice, they are left stranded in one of the most inhospitable environments on Earth. The two men must rely on their wits, survival skills, and a dwindling supply of resources as they struggle to make their way back to civilization.
