*The Wolverine* (2013) is a superhero film that takes Logan, aka Wolverine, out of his familiar X-Men environment and places him in Japan, where he is confronted with both physical and emotional challenges. The story begins with Logan living in self-imposed exile following the events of *X-Men: The Last Stand*, grappling with the loss of Jean Grey and the deep sorrow of immortality. He’s eventually sought out by Yukio, a mutant with the ability to see people’s deaths, who brings him to Japan to meet the wealthy businessman, Yashida, whose life Logan once saved during World War II. Yashida, now dying, offers Logan the chance to become mortal, tempting him with the possibility of finally ending his tortured existence.
